Until I read your article, Sean, I was unaware that Helen Mirren was a celebrity Zionist. (I knew she was a celebrity, of course, but not that she was a Zionist). so, I researched her via various sources. Lots of Israeli media quote her adoringly, of course, but the most useful source on Mirren is Reverse Canary Mission (dot org), which lists her various Zionist activities (see below):

She defended Israel's right to appear in the Eurovision Song Contest, despite protests regarding Israel's genocide of the Palestinians. (The fact that Israel is included in a supposedly Pan-European event like that tells the world everything it needs to know about Israel’s true nature as a European Colonial Settler project.

She played Gold Meier in the eponymous biopic recently.

She announced in interviews for that biopic that "I believe in Israel, in the existence of Israel, and I believe Israel has to go forward into the future, for the rest of eternity,"

Contrary to Little Nell's assertion (in their comment above), Mirren is not actually Jewish – which, according to the Guardian, stirred up some controversy in respect to her casting for the role of Golda Meir – although she clearly is a full-bore Zionist and Israel apologist, lending celebrity glam to cover for their program of genocide.

On a personal note, thank goodness Mirren is not one of those actors I used to enjoy watching until I discovered how awful their social and political views actually are. I never cared for Mirren as an actor in the first place (I found her cold and unpleasant). Thank goodness for small mercies.

James Berardinelli - good, accurate movie reviewer in my book - says, "As a snapshot of 20th century history, Golda does its job. As something more eloquent and important, the film falls short of its goal. Although the title makes it sound like a bio-pic, Golda is actually a fictionalized reconstruction of one of the most significant periods of conflict in the Middle-East, the so-called 'October War'..." So in other words a latter day (and continually stoked) "Exodus" from Leon Uris.

I lost all respect for her when I found out she was a jew. I thought the story was her family was Russian nobility, or at least landed gentry, and the last name had been shortened to Mirren from Mirrenoff. Then she did that Golda Meir movie and any last shred of admiration I had for her ended then and there. Golda fucking Meir! Christ on a bike, lady! She’s a hateful old hag who has had so much work done on her face she looks like what she is: an aged jewess with too much plastic surgery.
Helen Mirren should marry Quentin Tarantino and have little Netanyahu quintuplets to run the staff in their Tel Aviv mansion. They seem like a perfect couple. Kids would be born circumcised.
